Here are some offensive and defensive drills for increasing speed, power, and agility for crossover steps in basketball.  Offensively, stay low and make sure you are driving forward while beating your defenders feet by stepping across your body.  Make sure you are on the balls of your feet and that you rip the ball with power to increase your first step quickness.  Defensively,

try to keep your shoulders square while quickly and explosively rotating your hips and pivoting your feet.  Maintain an athletic stance with your hips back, chest up, and keep your shoulders over your hips.  Keep your shoulders level and aim for maximal distance with each crossover step, staying low and making sure not to rise.
